Campbeltown Heritage Centre

Learn about the fascinating life and times of Campbeltown at its superb local history museum.

Housed inside the former Lorne Street Church dating from 1868, the Campbeltown Heritage Museum provides compelling insights into the cultural, social and economic influences which have shaped the development of this unique town. Informative interpretive displays accompanied by historical photographs chart the evolution and impact of Campbeltown’s key industries including agriculture, distilling, mining and military. Standout exhibits include and old fishing skiff, models of how the town used to appear in the early 1900s, antique military uniforms and a mounted golden eagle, one of area’s native species. There are also evocative displays that recreate traditional trades that were once essential to the town which includes the cooper’s workshop. In the grounds of the centre are other interesting artefacts including a naval gun, a large bell and agricultural machines.
