The Highland Wildlife Park is open year round (except Christmas Day) and is a fantastic attraction for visitors of all ages. The Park specialises in Scottish wildlife and endangered animals of the world’s colder climates, including Bactrian camels, yak, Tibetan wild ass and Amur tigers. For some of the animals, like Walker and Arktos the polar bears and the arctic foxes, winter is probably their favourite time of year, particularly when there is snow. The Park is divided into two main areas – the drive-through reserve and the walk-round area. In the Main Reserve visitors drive past European bison, red deer, vicugna, elk and Przewalski horses. Landrover Tours of the Main Reserve are also available daily with our knowledgeable guides, and visitors can sign up for these in our shop. In the walk round area you can meet our Scottish wildcats, eagle owls and wolverine before heading towards the Visitor Centre past the red pandas, European cranes, lynx and beaver. Our Wolf Wood is home to our European wolves and European forest reindeer. Every day, visitors can join the animal feeding talks which take place around the Park and can then warm up in Antlers Café in our Visitor Centre with a bowl of homemade soup before visiting the well-stocked giftshop for a souvenir of their visit. The Park is a registered charity, run by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland who also own Edinburgh Zoo.
